WHO IS A PART OF LEAD?
WHO IS A PART OF LEAD?
The LEAD Community of Practice (CoP) is a ‘community’ of individuals, teams, organizations and networks all grappling with questions around language, education and development. The focus of the CoP is working with minority communities, often marginalized because of their unique culture and/or language, and it is facilitated by the LEAD Global team.
In this increasingly globalized world, communities are often required to choose between engaging in development opportunities or keeping their language and culture. This is a false choice. As groups develop a stronger sense of community—built on a firm foundation of their own unique identity—they are able to more actively engage in future opportunities. However, this is rarely a simple process.
The LEAD CoP provides an environment for practitioners and community members to share knowledge, experiences and resources openly and honestly. The LEAD CoP is continually growing and changing as participants learn together and develop their combined knowledge, find solutions and support one another. We would love for you to join us. LEAD Global supports the LEAD community of practice (CoP) and its participating organizations in a variety of ways:
coordinating the CoP, both online and through regular events,
assisting with project design and funding,
advising on organizational development issues,
technical consulting on questions around language, education, environment and community participation,
helping teams develop appropriate monitoring and evaluation for LEAD impact,
linking the efforts of the CoP participants to regional advocacy for LEAD issues.

Languages are precious. We treasure ours, while seldom pondering what it would be like to speak a minority language, especially one with no written form.
LEAD Global serves minority language communities by helping them find their voice: through designing writing systems, through developing materials such as dictionaries and traditional stories and practical manuals to better their lives, through advocating for mother tongue based multilingual education, and through finding appropriate local solutions to immediate livelihood issues.
The task is huge, but our team of language, education and development specialists is ready to serve. Would you help us by giving a gift to help subsidise training events, consultant travel, and staff development? We need your help and welcome you to join our team!
The easiest way to give is through our international administration, SIL International. To do this just click on the button below, select the option to indicate the donation is from a company or organization and then add “LEAD Global” in the following field. Thank you.
